European maine coons vs American Maine coons

European Maine Coons have larger ears with prominent tufts (similar to lynx), longer, bushier tails, and higher cheekbones. They also have a more majestic almost Royal like look. European gentle giants have rectangular, big-boned and muscular bodies.  Their large rounded paws set them apart from most other breeds. They have a well-proportioned physique, which makes them gorgeous. European Maine Coon cats have almond-shaped ones.  

1. Temperament -Maine Coons are good-natured felines. They’re fun, loving, and loyal. If you have small children, you might want to opt for a female Maine Coon, since they’re calmer and not as needy as males.
2. Social-ability- Gentle giants are great at socializing with people and other pets, including dogs. If you’re thinking of adopting two adult cats of the opposite gender, consider having them neutered to prevent unplanned pregnancy
3. Playfulness—This breed is energetic and playful. Since they love exploring, make sure to be on the lookout for any potential dangers, such as toxic foods, poisons, etc. 
4. Vocality—European Maine Coons are quite vocal and love “speaking” to humans. Besides purrs and trills you can expect to hear when they’re happy. Maine Coons are not afraid to show displeasure by hissing or meowing
5. Intelligence—Both American and European Maine Coons are intelligent and trainable which is super important when keeping them inside.

American Maine Coons have oblique-shaped eyes and differs from the European Maine Coon in their appearance. Though large and heavy-bodied, the American Maine Coon has a more refined look than that of the European variety. The ear tufts are absent, and the cat’s coat is smoother and less wild-looking.

• Like their European counterpart, the American Maine Coon is a friendly and loyal cat that enjoys the company of humans and other animals. If the Maine Coon is given their own space, they can coexist with other animals without incident. They are also good choices for families with children since they are large, hardy, and tolerant of rambunctious kids.

• Training
• Maine Coons are known for their “dog-like” personalities and high intelligence, which makes them easy to train. Along with basic behavior modification, Maine Coons can be taught tricks and commands, just like a dog, and have a strong desire to please their owners. Like the European variety, American Maine Coons must be trained using positive methods and consistency. Avoid punishing your cat with techniques like spray bottles or swatting, which aren’t effective.

• The American Maine Coon is similar to their European counterpart and gets along well with other pets, people, and children. They can enjoy just about any living situation, provided they have the care they need. People who prefer a more refined look in their cat may enjoy the American Maine Coon.
